Collection: Treaty 6 – 150th Anniversary Collection
As a proud member of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation, this collection holds deep personal meaning for me.
To commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Treaty 6, I wanted to create a collection that helps bring awareness to the importance of the Treaties and encourages meaningful conversations. The Treaties are living agreements that continue to shape the relationship between First Nations and the Crown. Understanding their history, their purpose, and their ongoing significance is important for all Canadians.
My hope is that when someone wears one of these pieces, it becomes more than jewelry. It becomes a conversation starter—an opportunity to share the history of Treaty 6, to learn from one another, and to deepen our understanding of the commitments, relationships, and responsibilities that continue today.
These commemorative pieces have been created specifically for Treaty 6 First Nations and organizations. While members of the public may see them, they are not being offered for general public sale. Our goal is to ensure they remain a meaningful way for Treaty 6 communities to commemorate this historic milestone.
The collection is available for a limited time and in limited quantities. Each piece is presented in a premium gift box, making it ideal for recognizing Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Chiefs and Council, dignitaries, staff, volunteers, and community members during anniversary celebrations and special events.
At Medicine Bear Arts, we are honoured to work with First Nations to create meaningful commemorative artwork. If your Nation or organization has ideas for a custom project, anniversary piece, award, or another community initiative, we would be honoured to work with you. Please don't hesitate to reach out—we would love to help bring your vision to life.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of this important anniversary. Together, we can continue sharing the story of Treaty 6 and help ensure its history, meaning, and promises are understood by future generations.
