Turtle Guide – Earrings

In Cree teachings, the turtle represents truth — one of the Seven Grandfather Teachings. It symbolizes the enduring, unchanging nature of life. The turtle’s shell, with its 13 large plates representing the 13 moons of the year, reflects the cycles of nature and reminds us to move steadily through life with patience, resilience, and groundedness.

When I finished engraving this piece, the name Turtle Guide came to me — as it often does with my creations — in that final quiet moment. I always write whatever comes to me at the end of the process directly onto the back of the piece. This time, the message was clear: the turtle guides those who walk in truth.

The original design was hand-carved and stippled, a traditional engraving technique that adds texture and dimension. Each pair is cast in .925 sterling silver, preserving the intricate details of the original. The ear hooks are also crafted from .925 sterling silver, ensuring both quality and comfort. The reverse side of each earring is inscribed with the piece’s title, Turtle Guide, along with my artist signature and the 925 silver hallmark — a mark of authenticity and intention.

These earrings are more than just jewellery — they carry teachings. Wear them as a reminder to move with purpose, honour the truth, and live in harmony with the cycles of nature.
